It is the influence by a mature adult mind on a virgin mind (a child, in most cases).
 
Gradually and with the necessary trasparence, throught various appropriate strategies and techniques, the adult reveals to the child how the brain works, fundamental automatisms, animal reactivity, simple processes like that of difference and similitude, complex processes like perception, advanced processes like abstraction and manipulation.
 
In this way the child becomes mentally independent, so a manipulator will not be able to attack him/her.

N.B.: the most common mistake many parents make is to think that a child can grow up “free”, that is to say, not influenced by anybody - this is impossible. If it is not the parent who influences him/her, it will certainly be somebody else, who will very likely be a manipulator.
 
Another common obstacle to the mental independence of the child is childnapping, that is to say when either parent (usually the mother nowadays) is a manipulator.
